Leigh Dickinson - Northern Star Director

After graduating in 1997 Leigh tried many different occupations before he found his true calling.  He started in financial services in May 2000 working for a small mutual company and quickly became a top producer.  He turned down management opportunities when head hunted by Friends Provident where he established himself as a complete financial adviser, quickly progressing into providing bespoke Inheritance Tax and Investment advice.

The next stage of his development was to become independent, which was achieved when Friends Provident withdrew from providing financial advice.  Joining Positive Solutions enabled a smooth transition into providing Independent Financial Advice. Having done so, he was keen to fulfil a major ambition of setting up his own company.

After 12 months of careful planning Northern Star was launched during the first  quarter of 2007.

Leigh is married to Emma, and has two young boys.  He enjoys a wide range of hobbies from fishing, playing football, squash, reading, through to building up his knowledge of whisky.

Leigh holds the Chartered Institute of Insurance Advanced Financial Planning Certificate for Taxation and Trusts, and proves that you don't have to be dull to be a number crunching, spreadsheet loving, file keeping, client friendly IFA.

Andrew Fee - Northern Star co founder

Started in financial services in 1990 joining Allied Dunbar. After 2 years he progressed to National Mutual Financial Management and became a rising star in their ranks. Within a year, National Mutual was acquired by Friends Provident where Andrew spent 10 happy years honing his advisory skills and specialising in Inheritance Tax advice and seminar speaking.

When Friends Provident withdrew from providing advice, Andrew took the opportunity to become a fully Independent Financial Adviser by accepting a position with Park Row Associates. 3 years later, he founded Northern Star with Leigh Dickinson.

Andrew believes good client relations and regular contact are paramount as this will determine the measure of Northern Star's success in the financial services arena.

Andrew's hobbies include live music, football, walking his dogs, general keep fit, and also building up his whisky knowledge.
